In 1905 the Artesia Advocate reported the plans for “the largest and most up-to-date business house in Artesia” and spoke of the confidence the builders had in the future of Artesia. One hundred years later, the Heritage Inn still graces a corner of the Artesia business district, housing retail space and small meeting rooms and a charming 11-room inn.  The second floor was remodeled in 1993 to provide luxury lodging for weary travelers.

Located near a crossroads of the southeast New Mexico town where roads west lead to the southernmost peaks of the high Rocky Mountains, to the south and north international destinations; one celebrating extraterrestrial life (Roswell) and the other, an exquisite place to hide from them (Carlsbad Caverns).  To the east, below the quiet rocking of the pumpjacks lay the rich oil fields of this land.

Offering concierge-style service, the Heritage Inn continues the tradition of attention discriminating guests expect.  While offering all the conveniences that today’s business traveler expects, it possesses a taste of a slower, more gracious time.  “It’s like coming home.”

Some rooms are available for your four footed friends.  Three of our rooms have restored the original hardwood from 1905 and five have bath/shower combinations. One handicap accessible room is available on ground level.
