V. REPORTS
A. MEMBERSHIP Report given by Steve Hiatt for Sarah Dolk, the membership chair. She was not present. We have 56 inns and 4 associate members. Membership was discussed and we are always looking for new members, including associate members. A report was handed out explaining that we have lost some inns due to innkeepers selling their properties and leaving the business. Some have also become vacation rentals. Sarah as been contacting prospective new inns and will continue to do so.
B. STANDARDS REPORT was presented by Lisa Kwas, the standards chair. Lisa said that on a whole, our associated inns have sent in their documentation to her on time. Three inns still have their documentation outstanding. They have been taken off of the NMBBA website until they submit their documentation. Eight inns still need fire inspections. The B&B Association inspections have been pushed back because Sue Gregory sold her house and had to move. We have had three complaints this year and only one was about an association member and a $50.00 gift certificate was issued for this complaint.
C. MARKETING REPORT was presented by Becky O’Connor. For the period July 2007 through June 2008, the New Mexico Bed & Breakfast Association has received Co-operative Tourism Grant funds of $12,000 from the New Mexico Department of Tourism. Becky pointed out that our organization was one of the few whose award was increased rather than cut. Internet marketing is on going and print advertisement for the 2007-08 Grant year has been placed as follows: Sunset Magazine – 6 issues, AAA Texas Journey – 4 issues, and New Mexico Magazine – 12 issues. Steve stated that at the TANM Conference in October, we gave 2 gift certificates for a one-night stay in a member inn (up to $250 in value). Becky stated that we are not printing a directory this year because we still have enough. It was also discussed about advertising with Public Television or Radio and putting our member directories at the airport in Albuquerque.
D. TREASURER'S REPORT was presented by Steve Hiatt. He handed out the Treasurer’s Report reflecting the fiscal year. We currently have a $49,436 cash balance of which $30,000 is committed to this year’s budget.
